We believe you should know exactly what happens when you call your Tuttu.
The service is built with transparency in mind. This page explains how the technology works and how your data is handled.
The Call
Here is what happens when you call your Tuttu.
Your phone number identifies you automatically - no separate login needed.
Your Tuttu listens in real time. It understands when you’re still thinking and when you’re done - it won’t cut you off or wait awkwardly.
When your Tuttu needs a moment, you hear a natural acknowledgment - "Hmm, let me see..." or "Right..." - just like a real person would. The response starts playing in your phone in real time.
Your Tuttu can search the web, check your calendar, set reminders, and send text messages - all during the call.
If you start talking while your Tuttu is speaking, it notices immediately and stops. The conversation continues naturally.
Text messages work on the same principle, but without voice: your message is processed directly, and the response comes back as a text.
Memory
After each conversation, an AI reviews the full transcript and compares it against your existing memories. It decides what is new and worth remembering, what should be updated, and what is no longer accurate. This happens automatically after every conversation.
Your Tuttu stores four types of memories: facts (you're Pekka, you live in Kuopio, your commute is 45 minutes, you have two kids), preferences (you enjoy the outdoors, you don't like fish), context (you're planning a trip to Vienna, you're interested in renting a cabin at Himos in January), and instructions (always reply in Finnish, don't suggest meat dishes).
When your Tuttu needs to recall something, it does not search for keywords. It understands meaning. If you mentioned months ago that you cannot eat dairy, and now you ask for a restaurant recommendation, your Tuttu connects the dots.
You have full control over your memories. In the portal, you can see every memory, edit it, or delete it. If your Tuttu remembered something incorrectly, you can correct it. You can also say directly during a call: "Forget what I told you about X."
Technology
Each call uses over five specialised AI models working together, each optimised for a different task - speed, quality, or responsiveness. The AI landscape is evolving rapidly, and we continuously update the models we use to stay on the cutting edge.
Your Data
Your Tuttu's database - your conversations, memories, and account information - runs on our own infrastructure in Finland. We chose to self-host rather than use cloud services so we have full control over where your data lives.
AI models and voice services need to see your data to function. Your speech is sent to a voice service for recognition; your conversation is sent to an AI service for response generation. These services process your data in real time but do not retain it.
Your phone calls are not recorded. The audio is streamed to a speech recognition service and converted to text in real time. The text transcript is stored; the audio is not.
In the portal, you can view, edit, and delete all your data: memories, conversation history, and account settings.
You can delete your entire account and all associated data at any time. Send a text message "POISTA" to your Tuttu's number, or email [email protected]. Deletion is permanent and complete.
